    When to consider Rhinoplasty?

Whether you are considering rhinoplasty for cosmetic reasons (you are unsatisfied with the appearance of your nose) or for a medical reason due to an accident, injury to the nose or you face difficulty breathing, your board certified plastic surgeon at Maison Lutetia will sit and discuss your best surgical options. For patients who seek treatment for medical reasons, a septoplasty might be required, and the surgery will be considered as reconstructive instead of cosmetic. Septoplasty can sometimes be carried out at the same time as the work to improve the appearance of the nose.

What to expect from a Rhinoplasty in Dubai?

The procedure takes place in a hospital and your plastic surgeon will discuss the different surgical approaches prior to your surgery. There are two general techniques for the incision, open and endonasal. Your nose size can be increased or decreased by adding or removing bone and cartilage, if a bridge hump was highlighted as a concern the surgeon will remove bone and cartilage to smoothen this area.

For the tip of the nose, grafts made of cartilage is used to remodel the tip, either more uplifted, longer or shorter. The remodeling is done either with your skin and soft tissue or with the help of tissue fillers and fat grafts. All surgical approaches or techniques will be explained in detail during your consultation, your plastic surgeon will discuss if any additional techniques are required for your individualized plan.

    How is a Rhinoplasty performed?

The surgery approach can either be performed from inside the nostrils (closed rhinoplasty) or by making a small cut between the nostrils and lifting the skin, known as open rhinoplasty. You and your plastic surgeon will discuss these and agree on the best approach depending on the concern that is being treated.

After the surgery your nose appearance, shape, size and angle will be greatly improved. If you faced any structural problems that hindered your breathing it can be corrected at the same time. Rhinoplasty has been proven to significantly improve self-image and confidence. However, it is important to know that depending on the type of surgery and approach you might have visible scars (which will fade over time). There is the possibility of breakdown of skin tissue associated with the use of grafting materials and for some individuals adjusting to their new look takes a little more time.

What will the Scars and Incisions look like?

As mentioned before there are two surgical approaches, open and endonasal, for open the incisions are made outside the nose with a small access incision on the underside of the nose. These scars are small and once healed barely visible. For an endonasal rhinoplasty, the incisions are made inside the nose (nasal passages), due to this approach the incisions are invisible after the surgery as they are all inside the nose.

What is the length of recovery time & are results permanent?

Your recovery time, post-operative instructions and how long before you can resume your normal physical activity and work will be individualized depending on your procedure and discussed prior to your surgery. It is important to note that your surgeon will share detailed instructions of how to take care of your surgical area and any warning symptoms to look out for. The amount of time it takes for recovery varies greatly among patients and this will be discussed based on your particular case. Rhinoplasty is a permanent solution therefore you need to be clear on your expectations and aesthetic goals. The surgery should not be performed on growing adolescents unless there is a serious medical indication. Insure not to miss any follow-up evaluations and visit your plastic surgeon if you see any changes in your nose.

    Bespoke Treatment Plans

Your surgeon will discuss your goals, lifestyle, including physical activity, and based on this a bespoke treatment plan will be shared with you. These will include the surgery approach, the outcome and risks and where the surgery will take place. Expectations will be discussed, and a post-surgery recovery plan will be shared.
